The Ghost of the Trenches

A massive thank you everyone who came along to the local, Stratford-upon-Avon launch of my latest book The Ghost of the Trenches and other stories from the First World War on Saturday (12 April). Waterstones made me so welcome once again – in spite of the fact that two of the staff were ill and probably could have done without me taking over the store! But nothing was too much trouble so I am incredibly grateful to all the staff for their support and assistance.

It was lovely to see so many people there – and I think author Brenda Williams wins the prize for furthest travelled. She and her husband came all the way from Wiltshire to say hello. It was great to catch up with you, Brenda. (Do take a look at Brenda’s website everyone. There are some books to treasure to be found there.)

Also in attendance was Councillor Sir William Lawrence, who took time out to come and chat about the book and went away not only with a copy of The Ghost of the Trenches, but alsoOne Day In Oradour. Thank you, Sir William.

And as always, I want to say a big thank you to my family and friends who turned out to help me mark the book’s arrival and share a celebratory glass of wine.

Here’s to the next one!
